So 432 Hz and 8 Hz are intrinsically linked in this way. This frequency of 8 Hz – which is at the top end of the Theta brainwave state – is the brainwave state that makes us feel relaxed but conscious and open to intuitive learning. So, when we tune an instrument to 432 Hz, we get a C note at 256 Hz, which, due to the sympathetic resonance of the note overtones, will produce another C at exactly 8 Hz. It is those awkward decimals he alluded to that make conventional music tuning (440 Hz) not sound as nice as music played at 432 Hz. Rather than tuning music at 440 Hz or other variations, he noted that by placing middle C at 256 Hz, you could create a system where each octave (or factor) of C lands on an even integer (whole number), instead of containing awkward decimals. In 1713, a French physicist named Joseph Sauveur came upon a new concept: Here's a fairly simplified explanation of how this came about, without too much math. Well, musically speaking, the two resonate with each other. So what's 432 Hz got to do with the Schumann Resonance of 7.83 – 8 Hz? This frequency range is referred to as the Earth’s heartbeat, or vibration. The Earth used to resonate at a steady average of 7.83 Hz, but in recent years we've seen a shift more towards an average of 8 Hz. He determined that the frequency of these electromagnetic waves is very low, ranging from 7.83 Hz to 8 Hz. He understood that global electromagnetic resonances exist within the cavity between the Earth’s surface and the inner edge of the ionosphere. This will ultimately explain the number’s importance.Ī German physicist, Winfried Otto Schumann, documented the Schumann Resonance in 1952. To understand the popularity behind 432 Hz, we need to first learn about the Schumann Resonance. The Schumann Resonance – The Earth's Heartbeat This simple theory will help you understand why 432 Hz is said to make for a better listening experience. The way we feel, and the way the brain responds when we listen, depends on the combination of sound frequencies in the composition. And Hertz (Hz) is the measurement we use. Sound is what is heard when sound waves (vibrations) pass through the ear. I mean, what is music made of?Īll sound is made by vibrations. What most people don’t know is how it does this. Science shows us that it affects internal functions like blood pressure and heart rate, can reduce anxiety, and even help with digestion and pain relief ( 1). Music affects more than your psyche, too. People create playlists for when they’re downhearted, happy, and almost every emotion in-between. In this post, we'll explore how this alternative tuning is related to our planet, how it almost became the standard pitch many years ago, why it's popular for healing, and the conspiracy theories behind its oppression.Ĭertain songs bring us to tears while others get us exhilarated and inspired for a once dreaded workout. What is it about music made in the frequency of 432 Hz that makes us feel so relaxed? Why is it that country music makes some want to throw the CD out of the nearest window? What is it about electronic music that makes it impossible for some to stand still?

Sadly, this work of art could not be more relevant than today, as we struggle to instill American ideals of fairness and justice in our society and institutions. Ragtime, a Tony Award-winning musical from nearly two decades ago, dealt with discrimination and social inequality in the United States at the turn of the twentieth century. In fact, they are perennial themes in our history-and our art. Discrimination and social injustice are nothing new in American life. Like most Americans, I've been shocked by the recent news of police brutality in some of our nation's most segregated communities. The only sad part about the entire affair is that it is quite unlikely that we will see a 50th reunion.Music Theatre International's CEO Freddie Gershon was recently featured on HuffPost Live discussing a powerful production of Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, and Terrence McNally's award-winning Ragtime in Syracuse, NY. The appreciative audience applauded wildly and there were many show stoppers for what were unquestionably dazzling performances. Most everyone (except for the actors playing the children, who were not in the original cast) was 25 years older but that wasn’t important. In a touching moment, the actress Lea Michele, who originated the role of Little Girl in “Ragtime,” paid tribute to cast members and crew who have “journeyed on” since the show’s opening night in 1998. All of the characters’ prejudices are as plain as the nose on their faces. The story is complex and emotional and the script does not hold back: the bigoted Fire Chief Willie Conklin (Mark Aldrich) does not hold back in using the word “nigger” repeatedly. The musical opened on Broadway at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, now the Lyric Theatre, on January 18, 1998. “Ragtime” had its world premiere in Toronto at the Ford Theater on December 8, 1996, produced by the disgraced Canadian impresario Garth Drabinsky. Even Tony voters and critics were begging for the ducats, offering absurd sums of money for them. This quickly became the hottest ticket in town – yet none were available. I am not, for the record, a person known for displays of patience. During that period, Covid-19 took the life of the show’s musical librettist, Terrance McNally and the audience of 1,700 washed their hands, donned face masks, and sprayed hand sanitizer liberally, all trying to be patient until the producers of the show would call them back to the Minskoff Theatre. In what was unquestionably the longest pandemic-induced hiatuses for a Broadway show, the reunion concert of the cast of “Ragtime” – finally took place 35 months later, for one night only, Monday night. The show was to feature all principal cast members of the Ahrens and Flaherty musical reunite, including Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and Peter Friedman, with Kelli O’Hara substituting for the late Marin Mazzie as Mother. In February 2020, I eagerly booked tickets for the “Ragtime” reunion concert, scheduled for April 27 of that year. “Patience grasshopper” was the phrase frequently used by Master Po to his student Kwai Chang Caine in the 1970s television series “Kung Fu.” Prosperity's Bill Pay provides the convenience, accessibility, and reliability you expect. We researched a variety of options, considering their nutritional value, flavor, and price. Typically, oat milk has less protein than other milks such as dairy milk and soy milk, and typically contains more carbohydrates than other plant-based milk varieties. The narrower, more almond-shaped ovals look better with longer lengths, while a rounder shape looks more flattering on shorter nails, adds Ali. Although, the amount of taper is totally up to individual preference. It’s important to always file toward the middle of the nail to prevent damage. Then file from the left toward the middle until you have rounded out that side and proceed to file from the right toward the middle. Mentally divide the nail into two parts: left and right. It’s also the easiest to maintain in the long term.Ĭhoose a file that isn’t too rough for a smoother edge. The long oval shape is more utilitarian than others, since the edges are least prone to breaking when you go about your daily life - from texting and washing dishes, to reaching into your bag to grab your keys. If you’re looking to grow out your natural nails, this is the best shape to choose, says LA nail artist Fariha Ali of Enamel Diction salon. And, voila! Once your oval is finished, go back and flatten the edge by filing straight across, the way you would with a square shape. Similar to filing an almond shape, you’ll want to push back cuticles first and then look to them as a guide to mimic the oval shape on the edge of your nail. It’s also an ideal canvas to show off creative nail art, if that’s your style. “A well-kept squoval manicure evokes a sense of effortless elegance, which is both understated and chic,” she says. It's the most modern choice, according to Lippmann. This one-size-fits-all shape marries a square base with an oval edge and looks beautiful on everyone. Then gently soften the edges with a buffing stroke or two so they don’t catch on fabrics. File straight across, though never in a sawing motion back and forth as this weakens the nail. If your nail grows straight from 1/8 to 1/4 beyond your finger, you’re a good candidate for this shape. The shape is often associated with free-spirited types who love to experiment with fun fashion and beauty looks.įirst, a dose of honesty: Square nails are not universally flattering on everyone, and it’s a fallacy that the shape will make anyone’s nails stronger, says Lippmann. “Gwen Stefani loves to rock a super cool, square nail,” says Lippmann. This statement-making shape is known to go in and out of style, though Lippmann says it’s considered edgy and on-trend at the moment thanks to a certain platinum blonde pop star. Cuticles and the resulting nail shape will naturally vary for every woman, making your at-home manicure look customized to your hands, says Lippmann. This strategy produces the most flattering, elongated and consistent shape. Once you’ve pushed cuticles back, look at the curve at your base and essentially mimic the same shape at the tip. item 4 Kids Childrens VHS Video Tapes Choose Any 3 for less than £10 Pick & Mix Kids Childrens VHS Video Tapes Choose Any 3 for less than £10 Pick & Mix. I checked MyGreenVolt at this point, this is what I got. I got my first Propulsion Reduced messages, and the Volt wouldn't go over 40mph going up a slight hill, with the pedal floored and ICE running all out near 4,500-5,000rpm. I tried to drive in this state, on ICE only as it was showing 0-Mile range for battery. I cleared the code with my MX+, but next turn on, it would come right back on. Turned it on, CEL, 0-Mile EV range and ICE kicked in. Unsure if it started charging, but within a minute or so I unplugged it, moved the Volt in the driveway, then plugged it back in and it did not charge, giving me the orange light. Unplugged the charger, (used it to charge the Wife's Kia Sportage PIEV), then plugged back in. Volt was charged overnight, at 98% SoC / 10.6kw usable. The codes would not clear with a reader, MX+. But I think I can chalk this up to a random error due to the charger or being rapidly plugged in and unplugged. Saw threads where it was Onboard Charger, and High Voltage Battery Disconnect parts that needed replacing. Thanks to WopOnTour for explaining the code.Click to expand. Thanks for this clarification! Makes me feel better that hopefully my experience is just a fluke, not a module going bad. Not sure what I should tell them other than to document the facts. This time leaving with dealer to charge cycle car, and hopefully they can monitor charge/discharge battery cell resistances. Appears to be some intermittent high resistance to cause battery to dramatically drop and engine start, then "recharge" during drive. Took video of some of the behavior (battery going up, then dropping then up to 10 bars! while driving with CEL on). Got home, restarted vehicle 1 hour later and CEL was no longer on. Started vehicle 2 hours later, consistent reading, normal behavior with CEL on. Stopped vehicle and turned off, restarted, EV range of 28mi reappeared at 6 bars. Engine apparently came on (EV range grayed out and car stuttered), and battery went back up erratically (1-2 bar drop climbing hill) to 10 bars. While driving after about 4 miles battery level went from about 6 bars to 1 bar in ~60sec. UPDATE: CEL came on again (3rd time in 2K miles) at start up after 2 days of short trips and no charging on 11/18. Out of this has come two things Onstar could pull the code, and even though the CEL went off, the dealer could detect the code. I do understand they need to identify a higher resistance during charging, and next time will insist monitoring charge voltage on #58 vs others. Guess this makes sense because high resistance (error) relates to charging and it does not come on regularly (6 week period). They reset the codes, and want to see if it repeats before further testing. Gas motor will not auto or manual start read more. 2012 Chevy Volt / 90K Miles Symptoms: Wont charge or shows fully charged but 'zero' available miles. Upon starting the car to go to the dealer (engine maintenance request came on to run engine), the CEL disappeared! How about that! However, the dealer on 11/9 was able to detect code, but indicated battery pair(?) voltages on #58 were normal 3.73v, compared to other battery's. 2012 Chevy Volt / 90K Miles Symptoms: Wont charge or shows. Onstar doesn't really have any real understanding of the DTC intricate details. But they merely have a "look up" table and response sheet for all of the DTCs that they use to advise the owner how serious the issue is, and how soon they should visit a dealer. Sure call up OnStar, so they can tell you how serious the condition is. Owners are typically not in ANY position to diagnose the faults that might be revealed anyways and clearing codes just reduces the possibility of a successful diagnosis. In a few cases (as posted on here) aftermarket scanning equipment connect to the DLC actually caused a loss of propulsion condition. I would further advise people to not use or leave connected unknown, non-validated aftermarket equipment on their cars, as often they can actually create issues even setting DTCs. So you would just be visiting them to hear "No Fault Found" at this point. In any case it appears to be an intermittent condition, so I wouldn't bother bringing them the car unless the check engine light or service messages are present as everything is obviously working fine at this moment, and you cannot diagnose something using a formal fault isolation process if there isn't a fault currently present. If the check engine light returns I would not use your scan tool equipment if it somehow is clearing the DTCs and just take it to a dealer ASAP.Īs is, the dealer will not do much based on what DTC you tell them was present, they must read the DTC from the modules themselves P1E65 is an indication that one of the 96 cell groups/pairs (#58) was indicating a high resistance condition |
